Shannon Taylor, LPC, Director of School Based Services
Shannon has worked in the mental health field since 2006. She earned a bachelor’s degree
in Psychology from Syracuse University in 2006. After completing her bachelor’s degree,
Shannon worked in a residential facility for children in crisis and then transitioned to behavioral
support for students in an alternative education placement. Shannon earned her master’s
degree in Mental Health Counseling from Shippensburg University in 2009. She has worked in a
variety of unique settings including providing mobile therapy as well as chronic care for people suffering from mental health illness while incarcerated.
Shannon is a certified secondary school counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. She has also earned the title of Nationally Certified Counselor as well as Licensed Professional Counselor. Shannon is credentialed with multiple insurance providers.
Shannon joined Laurel Life as a school based counselor during the 2014-2015 school year. She has worked as an outpatient therapist specializing in thought and mood disorders as well as working with clients who have experienced trauma across all ages. Shannon has experience as a psychological associate completing best practice psychological evaluations. Shannon became the supervisor of Dauphin and Cumberland County School Based Services in 2016 and was promoted to Director of School Based Services in 2019.
Shannon provides professional development for therapists and behavior coaches who are embedded within school district special education classrooms and/or assigned to a caseload of special education students in need of social work or counseling services.
